Bianca Matzek holds a doctorate in economics. Following positions in the management of the publishing group Handelsblatt Düsseldorf and the ZEIT-Verlag Beteiligungs GmbH, she was general manager of Book/Corporate Publishing with Springer Fachmedien in Wiesbaden, Germany. Since November 2015, she has been the publishing director of the editorial office in Bern. Subject areas: Management, architecture, media.

Hermann Ühlein joined Peter Lang in 1995. After completing a bank apprenticeship, he gained a degree in Catholic theology and art history and was awarded a PhD in German language & literature in Mainz. After joining Peter Lang, he worked in the editorial department. Since being appointed senior acquisitions editor in 2014, he is the primary contact for authors and editors from the fields of history, politics and theology.

Laurel is Senior Commissioning Editor for the Language, Literature and Culture list. She began working in the publishing industry in 1995 and joined Peter Lang in 2010. She holds a PhD in Literature with a focus in French and German. Her core commissioning areas are modern languages and literatures, cultural studies and visual culture. She manages specialized series in memory studies, women’s writing, genre fiction, comparative literature, film studies, art history, translation studies, critical race studies, medical humanities and disability studies, among others. She is delighted to speak with scholars about new book and series proposals.

Lucy has been working in publishing since 1995 and as the UK and Irish Director of Peter Lang since 2011. With overall strategic and commissioning responsibility for the UK and Irish divisions, Lucy is also responsible for the History, Theology and Religious Studies, and Social Sciences lists. She acquires manuscripts in the areas of African development, ethics (including business ethics), religion and theology, media and communication, sport history, trade union history, and British Mesolithic and Neolithic studies, amongst others. She also commissions books in the history and culture of Scotland, aspects of British identity since 1707 and queer studies. She is always interested in receiving new series ideas.

Michael Gibson is senior acquisitions editor in film and media studies and communications. Michael has been an acquisitions editor in the humanities and social sciences for twelves years and is a published academic and writer in film studies. He is interested in continuing and expanding the dynamic lists at Peter Lang in film and television studies, media theory and criticism, and communications studies of all kinds, particularly interdisciplinary works that engage media and communications across a range of vital spheres, such as culture, economics, environment, health, history, journalism, politics, and social ethics and formation.

Philip Dunshea is Acquisitions Editor for the Humanities at Peter Lang, managing series on History, Literature, Culture and Religious Studies. Philip has an MA (Hons) in History from the University of St Andrews and an MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge. Newly arrived in North America from Scotland, he is based in Dundas, Ontario, Canada. Previous roles include Acquisitions Editor for History and the Social Sciences at Peter Lang.

Tony has been working in publishing since the early 1990s and is Senior Commissioning Editor, Ireland and the UK. He commissions books in the fields of Irish studies, education, and international relations. Tony is very interested in receiving book proposals and series ideas in these areas. He previously worked for Manchester University Press, Kogan Page and Prentice Hall among others. He has a particular interest in commissioning books on Ireland and has vast experience in that area.
Irish Studies
We are actively expanding our publishing program in Ireland, which is overseen by senior commissioning editor Tony Mason. Our book series Reimagining Ireland is a particular highlight of the program, showcasing the latest interdisciplinary research in Irish studies. We welcome proposals from scholars throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom working in all areas of the humanities and social sciences.

Thierry Waser holds an MA in French literature and contemporary history from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). He started working for Peter Lang in 2008, first in the Bern office, before joining the Brussels office in 2015, where he works as the deputy managing director and senior commissioning editor. He speaks French, German and English. Subject areas: History, sociology, linguistics, philosophy, law, ecology and environmental studies.
